Nothing soft gets buried
Rotted or delaminated decking is replaced before new underlayment goes down.
We repair and replace roofs, and build the gutters, siding, decks and windows that keep water out of the house below them.

The work
Most of our calls start with a roof: a leak after a November storm, shingles lifted by wind, moss that has taken over a north slope, or a roof that has simply reached the end. We repair what can be repaired and replace what cannot, on pitched roofs and on the flat sections over garages, additions and small commercial buildings.
A roof rarely fails alone, though. The water it sheds lands in gutters, runs past fascia and siding, and finds its way around windows and deck ledgers. That is why we also install and repair gutters, siding, trim, decks, patio covers and windows. When we fix one part of that path, we look at the next one down.
The full list is on the services page, with a page for each kind of job.
Start to finish
Small repair or full replacement, the order is the same.
You describe what you are seeing and where the house is. If water is coming in, stopping it comes first.
Roof covering, flashing, vents, gutters and the deck from the attic side where we can reach it.
What failed, what we plan to replace, and any choice between repairing now and replacing later.
We check which office governs the address and whether historic rules apply before ordering materials.
Tear-off or repair, deck repairs, underlayment, flashing, then the new roofing, gutters or siding.
Debris out, nails swept with a magnet, and a walk around the house to show you what was done.
Standards
Rotted or delaminated decking is replaced before new underlayment goes down.
Flashing decides most leaks here, so worn metal is replaced rather than reused.
Work is staged so the roof is closed up before rain, not left open overnight.
If a repair will buy you years, we say so, and if it only buys a season we say that too.
Coverage
Tacoma is where we spend most days, from the older houses of the North End and North Slope to the West End, Northeast Tacoma and the South End. Around the city we cover Lakewood, University Place, Puyallup, South Hill, Gig Harbor, Federal Way and Auburn, among others.
The coverage overview lists every town and county page, along with which permit office applies where.

Guides
Our roof guides are edited by Kathleen Peabody, Roofing Guides Editor. She turns the questions homeowners ask us on the phone into plain answers on costs, moss, permits, historic districts and leaks, using published sources and what we see on Tacoma roofs.
Call any hour. A person answers, and we take it from there.
Calls are answered around the clock. Tell us what you are seeing and where the house is, and we will set up a visit.
Our office sits in Puyallup, and our crews work across Tacoma and Pierce County. The map loads only when you ask for it.
